I did bring my notebook with me and even purchased wireless vouchers to use at the hotel. Unfortunately the Cullinan's wireless access went down on Friday night and when we left there this morning, there still was no wireless access. My intentions were good! :). Thank you for all the lovely messages, both here and via text and voice! As I update the blog, I'll tell you about all the wonderful outings we've had and all the lovely peeps I've met already and chatted to.
Hello Cape Town!
It’s such a treat to be here at last. Especially as the weather is so glorious. We left Johannesburg early Friday morning in icy cold and pouring rain. Such strange weather... so unseasonal. The flight left late and they separated my husband and I. No apology or by your leave. When I queried this with the cabin crew, I was told the plane was overbooked. We sat down, squashed into the middle of 2 others, on opposite sides of the plane and I was so furious that I quickly called the SAA centre and complained to the PR lady who handled our prize. She called me back and spoke to the cabin staff, who made a plan and although we were still squashed, at least we sat together. I’m too used to my business class upgrades to the US. *Tsk tsk* I’m getting spoiled. Thank you for the welcome Penny – yes, you were indeed the first to say howdie – thanks for the call my friend. And Simon shnookums - thanks for the message - cannot wait to catch up with you either. You're right, I'll platz too, if I don't see you soon *LOL*
It’s been a fabulous couple of days of family time. After a lovely restful afternoon at the hotel pool, we went for Shabbat dinner to the family in Camp‘s Bay. Yesterday morning was spent wondering around the V&A Waterfront where I took pics of the harbour and boats and yachts. There’s a huge cruise liner docked this weekend, called the Regent. It looks magnificent. AND HUGE! Last night went to see the movie Inglourious Bastards. An excellent Quentin Tarentino film, a satire – very black humour – but I found it very violent and gory.
Today we’re joining cousins H & W to visit a new centre in Big Bay (cannot remember the exact name) and to a restaurant in the Tableview area for lunch and then to my niece and great nephew and niece in Hout Bay for afternoon tea. (Oh my hat - that makes me sound so old that I have great nieces and nephews! Mind you, I'm a granma, so I must be quite long in the tooth!) Food, food and more food. I’m going to bounce back to Pretoria like a big round ball! Anyhoo, I cannot wait to see you all on Saturday – and those of you with my number, please do call or message me. However, I will catch up with all of you from my cousin in the next few days.
