D7: Fresh a'capella

For those of you that don’t know them (you disgust me), D7 is an a’capella group of men, hot men, that well send shivers down your spine and make sure you leave every encounter with them with goosebumps, a smile, a feeling of inner peace and a sense that, if they keep on performing, everything is going to be OK.
Their website (www.D7live.com) explains them best:
“Is it just us, or have people forgotten the meaning of the word ‘Icon’? Can’t blame ‘em, I guess. Guess they just haven’t seen one in a while. Not since Franky Blue Eyes, or Billy Joel, or MJ in his heyday.
Guess there just aren’t any of those kinds of men left in the world. No men to own a stage when they step onto it. No men to fill a room when they walk into it, or an imagination when they sing.
Guess there aren’t any more men from black and white movies.
Guess you haven’t seen D-seven yet”
If you’re in Cape Town and you haven’t seen D7 yet, you disgust me. These modern icons have taken the beautiful city by storm. And they deserve it – they work tirelessly at getting their name out there and they have built up a reputation that they deserve.
Patrick, the appointed spokesperson for D7 and deservedly so, amazes me. I think you should understand that when I say these boys are hot, I mean these boys are so damn beautiful, it’s impossible not to gush when one sees them. I am obviously stronger than this, and can resist their temptation, but other girls aren’t so lucky. Needless to say, they have a plethora of girl fans. Plethora. And yet, in spite of this, Patrick remembers me every time I see him, and will call me by name. He also makes the time to have a chat. Can’t say I blame him though.
A short story to explain the kind of guy Patrick is, and by extension, all the guys in D7 are:
My parents came to Cape Town for the Christmas break and on their first evening here, D7 were performing at Kirstenbosch as an opener for carols by candlelight, so I took them to experience the power that is D7.
Patrick came up to us to say hello, I introduced him to the parents, and he sat down on the grass to chat to us. After the carols, he came and shook my dad’s hand and hugged my mom goodbye.
As my dad put it “He’s a salt of the earth kind of guy. You can see he came from a good school and good family”.
As my mom put it “Are all men like that these days? Too bad I didn’t grow up in your time!”
If only.
I urge to you to experience them. You haven’t experienced Cape Town until you experience D7 on the roof of the Grand Daddy hotel on Wednesday evenings (check their gig guide for details).
You will be entertained. You will be amazed. You will be moved. You will be changed.
This, I guarantee you.
